On March 11, 2011, over 500 San Diego community members gathered at Rancho Bernardo Park to form a human sunflower with the words “Joie de Vivre” meaning the joy of living in memory of Poway teen Chelsea King who brutally lost her life when kidnapped in that very park while jogging. The event was a project of Chelsea’s Light Foundation, which was created as a vehicle for scholarships and community work in her honor.<\/p>\nThe Team
