Julia Jaye Posin has been recognized with special commendations for her outstanding impact in environmental public service and democratic values by the United States House of Representatives, the California State Legislature, the California State Senate, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors, the Los Angeles City Council, and the LAUSD Board of Education.
In 2019, Julia was named honoree for the 2019 EcoStar Award from Sustainable Works, a non-profit environmental education partner to LA County. That same year, Julia received the 2019 Truman Award for Outstanding Volunteer of the Year by the San Fernando Valley Democratic Party,
In January 2018, Julia co-founded Shuki, a social-good company offering reusable products and zero waste content with the mission of shifting away from a fossil fuel economy and towards a regenerative and equitable one.
Julia previously served as Campaign Manager to the Pat Harris For U.S. Senate campaign, a progressive Democratic campaign for U.S. Senate in 2018. The campaign garnered 140,000+ votes in the State of California, and was dedicated to mitigating climate change, enacting Medicare for All, getting corporate money out of politics, and instituting criminal justice reform.
Julia has a decade of experience producing environmental justice events and campaigns around the world. Additionally, she has guest lectured at L.A. area colleges and schools including UCLA, Otis College of Art and Design, Pepperdine University, Santa Monica College, and Bridges Academy.
Julia currently serves as Board Member on the South Central Farm. She holds a BA in Anthropology and Environmental Systems & Societies from UCLA. She also completed the UCLA Social Enterprise Academy.
Julia previously served as board member and Environmental Chair of the Arts District Little Tokyo Neighborhood Council, where she co-founded the Los Angeles Green Business Ambassadorship Program with the City of Los Angeles. During her term, she also served on Mayor Garcetti’s Advisory Group, working with environmental leaders to create a Green New Deal Neighborhood Council Toolkit. She also previously served as a Board member of the Pacific Palisades Democratic club.
Julia currently serves as Senior Manager for the Artists for Amazonia campaign which harnesses the power of creative and entertainment influencers to catalyze global action in response to the threats to indigenous earth defenders in the Amazon rainforest.
